BRIEF HISTORY

The Islamic Research and Development arm of ZAYMAR SERVICES
Commenced activities February 2005 in response to call for an Islamic Research outfit. It started with organizing Lectures on

1. The Social aspects of Hajj and Umrah for West African Pilgrims,
2. Potential Suitors and Marriageable singles in Islam
3. Series of Lectures for Youth in Secondary and Tertiary Institution on effects of drugs, alcoholism, cultism, and religious injunctions.

It has a staff capacity of 10 with 7 field staff.It intends to source books and library materials for an Islamic Library for children as well as a Mobile picture Library Unit for the rural dwellers as a source of education and recreation.
It also intends to conduct a research under “The TAKKARI' PROJECT” on the dilemma of the Nigerian women in Saudi Arabia without recognized source of livelihood.

OBJECTIVES:

• To engage in Islamic research and render legal support consultancy services.
• To establish the link between Islam and Democracy for dissemination of information and call for affirmative action through seminars, workshop, lectures and conferences.
• To examine the rights and obligations of women in an Islamic democratic setting and provide free legal consultancy services to effect the rights.
• To encourage the acceptance and practice of pluralism and tolerance in the political, social and religious spheres.
• To promote a more accurate reading and interpretation of Islamic texts as faith supportive of universal human rights, pluralism, democracy and peaceful and cooperative co-existence with other faith and nations.
• To organize seminars, workshop, symposia conferences, retreats on contemporary social issues and on Islamic related issues that will promote harmonious and peaceful co-existence amongst citizenry.
• To create a network that would help to publicize, expand and strengthen the discourse on women in Islam.
• To use exhibitions, electronic media and other forms of information technology facilities and engage in field surveys and on-the-spot assessments of mishaps and advancement to facilitate communication on Islam and global challenges.
• To publish magazines, journals, communiqués, books, articles and bulletins on issues that seek to develop and promote peace, harmony, human rights, mutual respect and a democratic culture and discourse for mutual trust.
• To organize high school and college debates, quiz competitions, symposia and drama on Islam and democratic values to imbibe values as well as establish library for school children on Islamic subjects.
• To promote health-related programmes amongst women and youths for healthier living.
• To establish educational institutions skill acquisition centres in very backward Local Government Areas of Nigeria for the youths to be gainfully employed afterwards by obtaining a revolving micro-credit loan to minimize acts of delinquency, flair for early girl-child marriage based usually on economic reasons, child labour especially in accident-prone areas as well as cross-border child sale and enslavement, engaging in pipeline vandalisation, oil and gas black marketing with the attendant health and social implications.
• To establish, maintain and run self sustaining institution and tuition free centres for practical training on information technology including but not limited to computer Data Processing, Computer Programming, Computer Software Designing, Computer Engineering and ancillary matters for gifted but under-privileged youths and enthusiastic school drop outs from impoverished backgrounds in selected local government areas of Nigeria to improve their self-esteem and economic status in the society.
• To establish mobile libraries and film centres on the essence of education, health, skill acquisition, self-development, anti-war activities, non-violence, pluralism, religious tolerance and democracy.
• To develop, publish and disseminate textbooks, bulletins and other forms of literature on the above schemes for information and reference.
